A Quantum Metaphor for Human Being

19.99

A Quantum Metaphor for Human Being is an attempt to make sense of the world – via advanced mathematics, philosophy and quantum physics. Along the way, it takes in many of the vicissitudes of life, including the need to earn an honest crust. By turns darkly comic and mildly heart-breaking, this remarkable book is a portrait of a life well lived – against a backdrop of ever-moving, and often frightening, world events. Who are Alice and Bob – not to mention Alice’n’Bob?

Part memoir, part novel, A Quantum Metaphor for Human Being is a book about the human condition – and has to be read to be believed.

I am a dilettante. I say that with no hint of perverse pride; it’s not punk. I deliberately avoid the word ‘autodidact’: I’m not going to decry the system’s inability to cater to my unique learning needs or temperament. It’s an observation of empirical fact – one that I feel I need to share at the outset, to make it clear that I have no special understanding of quantum theory, or of human being. I am a fox, as opposed to a hedgehog. But I’m no polymath – more a snuffler, an easily distracted runt. I prefer not to suffer too much for my art.

Reviews
"A book about a life, philosophy, the drive to make an impact, literature, family, art, history, and quantum mechanics? There should be no way all that can fit together. But it does. It all comes together in a relatable story, told though interactions with a changing environment, that keeps you reading through the inherent uncertainty, and only resolves at the very end. I think. Beautifully written." ––Wouter Lagerweij
