Launch of Daisy Daisy by Carmen Cullen at Mermaid Arts Centre

A great crowd braved the elements and attended the launch at the Mermaid Arts Centre for the much-anticipated release of DAISY DAISY, the latest book by celebrated Irish author Carmen Cullen. Known for her powerful storytelling, Cullen’s new work promises to be yet another triumph as she delves into themes of love and commitment. The evening featured musical performances and readings from fellow Bray-based singers, musicians* and writers; the book was launched by Fionnuala Ardee of Kilruddery House, who spoke movingly of the power of storytelling.
Carmen Cullen is an Irish author recognised for her evocative storytelling, which often explores themes of family, love and personal struggles. In addition to her novels, she is also a poet and playwright. With a background in education as a former teacher, Cullen is actively involved in the Irish literary scene, contributing to contemporary fiction and poetry. Her distinctive style brings emotional depth to ordinary characters, particularly within the context of Irish society.
DAISY DAISY, the third book in Carmen Cullen’s trilogy, published by Liberties Press, offers a poignant exploration of marriage as it evolves over time. Set in Ireland from 1969 onwards, the novel follows Evelyn, a determined young woman who marries while pregnant, despite her uncertainties. Through a series of interlinked stories, Cullen examines the complexities of love, commitment and temptation in ordinary lives, as Evelyn navigates the challenges of marriage, motherhood and personal growth.
Cullen’s evocative writing brings to life the emotional depth of her characters and their experiences. A perfect read for those autumn evenings ahead.

DAISY DAISY is available for purchase now through Dubray Books, independent bookshops nationwide, and direct from the publisher here. It will also be available as an ebook. The other two books in the trilogy, TWO SISTERS SINGING and HELLO LOVE, are also available from Liberties Press.
*Fittingly, the launch was held on the anniversary of the birth of New York lyricist George Gershwin.
